Cultural Conversations are 90 minute theme-based reflective practice sessions.
They are designed to enhance effective engagement within diverse cultural contexts by allowing mental health teams to reflect on broad, recurrent themes of cultural tension or therapeutic challenges that arise in encounters across diverse backgrounds.
The Cultural Conversations service is available to organisations that have entered into a formal partnership with VTMH and forms part of a continuous education process.
Themes are explored using a dialectical learning process, and are facilitated by VTMH staff and Cultural Portfolio Holders (CPH’s) within the service in a safe and supportive environment.
What conversations have mental health teams explored with VTMH so far?
“How does an organisation's or a team's culture influence our practice?”
“How is power shared in therapeutic encounters?”
To request a Cultural Conversation, speak with the Cultural Portfolio Holder (CPH) at your site, who will liaise with VTMH staff to arrange a session.
